iEngDat consists of 3 major components
: PDA
application,
Desktop Middleware
and Web Services.
PDA Application
Two PDA applications are available at the moment:
iInstrument, iPile.
iInstrument
and
iPile are useful and handy tools for engineers to do on-site data collections of instruments and piles. Traditionally, data collected on-site are recorded on paper. However,
iInstrument and iPile
allow data to be collected into PDA and synchronised to the web server via the desktop
middleware (iMidware) with just few click of buttons.
iMidware
iMidware
is a desktop application that allows data transmission from
PDA to the web server with ease. It also serves as the data checking point between the front end PDA application and backend web server database.
Web Services
The web based application and service is the major power house of the
iEngDat system. It allows users to make use of the system according to their access rights and needs. It provides security features to prevent unsolicited access. Authourized users are able to view the collected data via web charts and download copies of the charts and data to their PCs. By setting up the different level of access to the application, system administrator can manage the project data and users with ease.
The web application also provides
geographical
presentations of the data
collected. Data collected can be attached to the drawing of the floor plans with detailed informations
so that users can access the information while browsing the drawing.
